January 2014 storms

Published on Tuesday, 21 January 2014 14:53

For those who are wondering, The Meadow is still here after all the storms and high tides at Holywell Bay. It's been an interesting time for anyone having a winter holiday here.

The sea was massive with waves breaking further out to sea than Gull Rocks but photo's were difficult to get due to poor weather and the big high tides occurring after dark. The beach took a bit of a pounding with large portions of the sand dunes being cut away. However in a few weeks the sand will level out and all will be back to normal.holywell-bay-storm

Jude Law filming at Holywell Bay beach

Published on Sunday, 14 July 2013 10:32

jude law holywell bay beach cornwall We had a suprise at The Meadow this week,  when we realised Jude Law was at Holywell Bay beach for the filming of his latest movie!- 'Black Sea'.

Jude Law and his film crew spent most the day down at Holywell Bay beach, making the most of the hot, sunny weather we've had lately. We managed to take a few pictures- albeit from some distance as we didn't have our zoom camera to hand. If you don't believe us you'll just have to wait for the movie to come out!

They seemed to be filming a picnic scene, we're not sure how this will fit into the movie which is described as- an 'underwater thriller about an out-of-work submarine captain (played by Law) who, desperate to find work, takes on a dangerous job from a mysterious employee. But he soon realises that his crew could be as dangerous as his mission– finding a stolen sub at the bottom of the Black Sea'.

Anyway if you're looking for some accomodation near Holywell Bay beach, get in touch and we will do our best to give you a choice of accomodation options that suit your needs.

An Indian Bride

Over last weekend a German film crew was filming on Holywell Bay beach. They were filming an adapation of the novel 'An Indian Bride' by Cornish author Rosamunde Pilcher.

We took some time out from our work at The Meadow Holiday Park to check out what was happening. Many of our guests strolled from our accomodation onto Holywell Bay beach to watch the filming, which went on all day.

There was a spectacular display of colours with flags flying, indian dancers dancing and a 'Golden Mandap'! As you can see, it was a bright sunny day for the filming with few crowds.

The finished production will be screened in Germany...where the national tv station has a series dedicated to adaptions of Rosamunde Pilcher novels. This brings the film crew to Cornwall quite often. They have filmed at Holywell Bay several time already. We think Holywell Bay is particularly popular with the crew because of its large beautiful beach, vast sand dunes, quiet location, and the ever iconic Gull Rocks! It's a shame the series won't be aired on UK TV!

If you book your holiday accomodation at The Meadow Holdiday Park, you may be lucky to catch a film crew too! We have bungalows available for holidays all year round, as well as caravans, chalets and touring/camping pitches during the main holiday season (Easter to October).

Hope to see you at The Meadow again soon!

spring is on the way

Published on Monday, 18 March 2013 21:37

surfing- holywell-bay- marchWell, in theory winter is ending and spring is on its way, however it does not feel like it yet. The beach is still very quiet, only a few walkers and the odd hardy surfer as in this photo taken 17th.march. Easter will soon be here the daffodils are in full bloom but it remains to be seen how many will still be out for Easter.

Accommodation wise we only have one four berth bungalow available for Easter. However there is more choice for spring bank holiday and later in the season.

Hopefully it will begin to get warmer soon.

Filming at Holywell Bay

Published on Thursday, 01 November 2012 13:17

Well the clocks have gone back, winter is on its way. At the Meadow we   are still busy with half term visitors to the bungalows off site, which are available through the winter. The caravan accommodation is now closed down until 2013.

On Holywell beach a couple of weeks ago we had a film crew from Germany filming a Rosemunde Pilcher film apparently she is a very popular author in Germany.

Our bungalow prices are now on our website for 2013 so if interested for next year please contact us.
